Mepitel

Wound contact layer with Safetac® technology

  • Elastic, transparent polyamide net
  • Safetac layer on both sides
  • Mepitel is a wound contact layer and acts as an interface between the skin and a secondary dressing.
  • The polyamide net has an open mesh structure that allows application of topical treatment such as ointments.
  • The net is transparent allowing for wound inspection without changing Mepitel but only the secondary dressing

Why is Safetac technology is  there and why is it important?

  • Prevents trauma and pain at dressing change.
  • Doesn’t adhere to the moist wound bed.
  • Adheres gently to surrounding skin.
  • Provides a hydrophobic seal around the wound margins to prevent maceration.

Mepilex Border Ag

An Ingenious Product

Mepilex Border Ag is a combination of Mepilex Ag and Mepilex Border but there are two differences:

  • The silver foam is compressed for better spreading properties
  • The absorbent pad is built in a different order
  • Mepilex® Border Ag contains silver sulphate which when in contact with fluid will release silver ions to create an effective bacterial barrier and inactivate a wide range of wound related pathogens (bacteria and fungi), as shown in vitro.
  • By reducing the number of micro-organisms, Mepilex Border Ag may also reduce odour.
  • Mepilex Border Ag has also been shown to inactivate wound related pathogens, up to 7 days in vitro.
